Media Fast

Hey y'all! Monday I started to do a media fast, therefor there was no posting from me. I only used my cell phone to text my husband and call my mom, and other than that no phone, internet, TV, news, or IPad. The morning and day went fine because I was at work and can't use my phone anyway. However when I got home it was a completely different story. The Princess and I's routine is for me to pick her up, and enjoy a snack on the couch while watching Doc McStuffins. She screamed and cried when I told her the IPad wasn't working. It made me realize how addicted we are to media! As the evening went on I became extremely bored. My husband didn't participate so he sat on his phone playing games while I just sat there in silence. I eventually ended up taking a bath and heading to bed early.
Obviously we (my family) needs a media fast. I spent way more time with The Princess having authentic conversations because we were able to focus on each other. My goal is to make this a nightly thing. No TV or phone until after she is in bed. She is growing up way too fast and I don't want to look back on her life and say that I regret something. 

So I challenge you to take a media break! It's way harder than it seems! If you decide to do it let me know how you do!

Five on Friday!

This was my summer project that is now almost finished. It's only missing some cute Princess photos and IKEA shelving!

2. This super adorable Neon Sorbet Maxi dress from kiKi LaRue was just what I needed on a dreary rainy day!

3. My sweet Princess has been so snugly lately and I'm LOVIN it!!

4. Freezer meals have been a life saver lately! Any new meal ideas? Send them my way please!!

5. I LOVE blogging, but how do you do this, have a job, take care if your kids, and cook!? I'm struggling with keeping up!!

Phone Dump Monday - Weekend Recap!

This was such a relaxing weekend! One that I really needed after spending so much time traveling with my Grandpa being sick and passing away.

Saturday I went and got my nails done. Nexgen nails might be my newest addiction. They come in 50 different colors and seem to last much longer than gel polish. I will let you know how they look in a couple weeks!

I have been trying to cook more at home so I went shopping and bought stuff to make a couple freezer meals. Chili, Lasagna, and meatloaf are just some of the things I make. 

We went to a bonfire at the Mr.'s parent house Saturday night and the Princess and I took some selfies.

Sunday I spent the day cleaning and napping. There is nothing better than clean wood floors and fall decorations. 

The hubs took this picture because I fell asleep during the KC game. :(

Five on Friday

So What Friday Link-up! Woot Woot!! It's my favorite day of the week!! 

1. I'm in love with my new Fall hair!! Thank you Jesus for getting rid of those awful gold highlights!

2. Now that school is back in session I'm in love with the weekends! I live for Fridays where I can wear jeans, and Saturdays which involve no makeup! 

3. Need I say more!? Fall can't get here fast enough! I love craft shows!

4. Caramel!!!!

5. Although this goes against my goal of getting healthy. The Wendy's in my town was demolished and being rebuilt all summer. Guess what's back!?

Weekly Goals Link Up

Let me just say I'm ready to get this weight off and keep it off for real! As I was blog stalking this weekend I saw a post by Skinny Hollie where she did mini challenges for herself where she went without something for 21 days. That totally clicked with me! 21 days!? - surely I can do this! So instead of weekly goals I have goals for the next 21 days!

Goal One:
  Absolutely NO real soda! If I drink soda it will be diet, but I will try to stick to water. 

Goal two:
  No Fast Food. For some reason this is so hard for me. I'm so used to eating this that sometimes I eat it without even thinking, but NOT for the next 21 days!!

Goal Three:
  I'm scared to even write this, since every time I have tried to do the 30 day challenge -- but my goal is to do the 30 day shred everyday for the next 21 days. I know that in order to work this into my schedule I will either have to do it in the morning (EARLY - like 4:30 am) or late at night after I'm already exhausted. It will be a HUGE sacrifice, but one that I need to make to jump start this weightloss process again.

Five on Friday!

School is back in session and I have survived a whole two weeks!! Whoop Whoop!! Such sweet kiddos full of SOOO much energy!

1. I'm in huge puffy heart love with this foundation! It's by Jane Iredale and I love it! I was worried since it is just a powder that it wouldn't cover, but it covers better than any other mineral foundation I have ever used. 


2. I'm loving that Walmart (yes I said Walmart) had all their maxi dresses on sale for $5. That is a freakin steal and I have NO problem wearing Walmart clothes, especially for $5! 

3. Did anyone catch the big Labor Day sale at the ZigZag Stripe!? Amazing!! I just got my order with these amazing new dresses! You must check them out! Sizes small-3x large! (P.S. I'm not getting paid to say that, I just love them!)



4. I loved this super short work week we had! I think every weekend should be a 3 day weekend! 

5. I'm in love with that fact I was raised in a small town. We had my grandpas visitation tonight and it was so nice to see everyone from my childhood. It is such a loving and caring community and in times of sorrow they really pull together and give each other support! Awesome feeling!!

* So what if I bought stuff to make S'mores and then joined a DietBet. I guess I will really be testing my will power by not eating the delicious s'more! 

* So what if I have all my fall decorations out and fall scents in my scentsy. I know it's 90 degrees put, but doesn't it look so cozy and comfy!?


* So what if I'm a huge sucker for reality TV. Bravo is my favorite channel! They have all the best drama filled shows! LOVE!

* So what if I went way over on my budget this month. This whole Dave Ramsey thing is hard! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

* So what if I took away the Princesses paci over a week ago and all I want to do is give it back. She looks so grown up without it! I just want her to be little!! Lol

Diet Bet Motivation

As I was catching up on blogs I came across Amber's talking about the Diet Bet she was joining along with Skinny Meg. I thought about it and then ate some chocolate. Then I weighed myself just for giggles and HOLY TOLITO!! I weigh A LOT! I knew I had gained some weight because my pants were getting tighter but I had no idea. That's when I realized this Diet Bet is exactly what I needed!

I must lose 9 pounds in the next 28 days to be able to split the pot! So here's my plan!

1. Eat within my calories everyday this week. I get 1500 so I need to make sure I don't go over that. 
2. Wear my fitbit tracker to keep track of my steps and make sure I get my 10,000 steps in a day. 
3. Drink water!!!

Random Thoughts

1. Cancer sucks

2. Losing a loved one is HARD and watching them suffer is even harder!

3. I survived an entire week of school and had barely any sleep!

4. Does it really matter what your casket looks like? They just burry it in the ground anyway. 

5. Nurses have a tough job! 

6. Someone should write a book called "The 7 People you Meet in a Hospital."

7. Fall weather should start on September 1st when I put up my fall decorations.
